Since its charter on May 26, 1978, Montgomery Capital Rotary has brought together professionals, business leaders, and community-minded individuals who believe that lasting change begins with service.
For more than four decades, our members have built meaningful relationships while working to strengthen Montgomery and improve lives around the world. Though our members represent a variety of professions and backgrounds, we are united by Rotary’s guiding principle: Service Above Self.
Part of a Global Network
Montgomery Capital Rotary is one of more than 35,000 Rotary clubs worldwide, connecting us to a global network of approximately 1.2 million members committed to creating positive, lasting change.
Rotary clubs are organized into districts that provide leadership, collaboration, and support, allowing local clubs to focus on serving their communities while contributing to Rotary’s broader humanitarian mission.
How Rotary Began
Rotary’s story began in Chicago in 1905, when four professionals started meeting regularly to build friendships and strengthen business and community connections during a time of rapid industrial growth.
As the group grew, they rotated their meeting locations among their offices, giving the organization its name: Rotary.
What started as a simple gathering of friends quickly evolved into something much greater. The founders recognized that their success carried a responsibility to serve others, laying the foundation for an organization built on fellowship, integrity, leadership, and service.
Today, Rotary continues that mission in communities around the world.
